Your swim lessons work!
Hi John-
My son took your class almost a month ago and has been practicing the drills a couple times a week in our pool with me. Gerrit (my 3 year old) was out with my husband near the pool last night and he fell in when he was reaching for a pool toy. He did exactly as he was taught and swam to the side without hesitating. He had all his clothes and shoes on as well. After he was out of the water and calmed down he said, "Do you think John would be proud of me?". I said, "OF COURSE!". So, I thought I would pass on the story of how successful your program is. My 15 month old will be in your program soon!

I enrolled both of my kids, 22 month old and 3 year old, in John's swim class. I truly could not believe the results within a few lessons. After putting in a pool, I knew my kids needed to be "pool safe." To my surprise, they weren't really interested in swimming and twice weekly lessons were going to be quite a chore. With John's method, Luke (2 1/2) learned to how to swim across the pool (to the side) in less than two weeks. Most importantly, he learned to be safe is a short period of time. He loves to swim now. Zachary (6) gained the confidence he needed in order to enjoy a summer of swimming. In one two week session, John taught him strokes (and discipline) that would have otherwise taken all summer to learn. John's structure, consistency and praise were the keys to success with both boys. I've tried to mirror the structure in other situations with great results. I also think I learned some valuable parenting information by watching John interact with the children.

I haven't had the chance to let you know how wonderful you and your program are! I have to say, WITHOUT a doubt, it is the BEST money I've ever spent. Not more than 2 weeks after Logan completed your program, he was walking along side the pool, tripped and tumbled right in!!! It was as if everything immediately went into slow motion. I was no more than 5 feet away from him, and it felt like I was 100 feet away! As I reached the edge of the pool, Logan had already swam right back up to the edge! His newly taught instincts kicked right in. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU for saving my son's life! I am forever grateful and am an avid supporter of your program!!!!

Based on the recommendations for John Ruffu's swimming lessons, I enrolled my 3 1/2 yr. old daughter in one such series of classes. I have to tell you, John did an amazing job with her.
The first 2 classes she cried and basically refused to do anything that John would ask her to. John was so patient and good with her, that from the 3rd day onwards she opened up and would do anything that he would ask or tell her. She really started enjoying her lessons and would anxiously await for her swim lessons with "Mr.John".
I am really glad that my daughter got to learn this life saving skill from John. I am confident now that if ever she finds herself in a situation in a pool, she will know exactly what to do.
I highly recommend John Ruffu and his swimming technique to anybody who would like to learn swimming.

My 3 yr old is one of the kids mentioned here I guess, and I would like to thank Jeff and his wife for allowing lessons in their pool. Our kid now just jumps into the pool, forget stepping into it, and swims to me or my wife. He still tries to do it one breath, but has developed good technique. Hands stretched out, vigorous tippy toe kicking, he can easily do 10-12 feet. A great life saving technique that John taught was where he drops the kid from few feet up (simulating a fall) into the pool, about 10-12 feet from the pool side. Our kid has learned to pop back up from the depth, locate the pool side and swim to safety. These are exercises that we are expected to continue till the kid gets older and really good at. There was only 1 kid at a time in the pool with John, and he keeps track of each kids' progress individually. And his no-nonsense approach helps the kid develop confidence in himself. My friends have taken their kids to other places that seem to cost a bit less, but after many lessons, each for a tuition, and after six months they remain pretty unhappy about the kids progress. I strongly recommend John.

My 3 year old son attended John's swim lessons last week. He thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and by the last day could swim about 8' to the lip of the pool and haul himself up.

My daughter (4 yrs) and son (8 yrs) just finished John's 2 week program and I am absolutely impressed with the results. We just bought a house with a pool and my daughter was a non-swimmer. If any of you own a pool with non-swimming young children you know how worrisome this situation can be. My son went from dog paddling to flip turns, breast stroke and free style. By the second week my daughter was swimming on her own. We can literally drop her in any part of the pool and she can safely swim to
the side entirely on her own. If you want your child to learn to swim soon there's no more effective way than John Ruffu's program.

My three year old daughter took lessons with John in May. She refused to swim for me and just cried. John's no nonsense approach was perfect for her and she was swimming by day 2 if not the first day. I am so happy that I do not have to spend the whole summer or more taking her to lessons somewhere else with little results. Regardless of who taught her, she would have put up a fight and cried to try and get out of it...Thanks to John's approach, this was a short lived problem, because he is able to get the children to perform and knows how to get past their manipulative behaviors which get in the way of learning.
I hosted the lessons here in my home pool and so I was able to observe all the various techniques the children tried to use on John. It was so entertaining, that my three older boys looked forward to the swim hour and kept tabs on the swimmers and their progress. There were one or two children I thought would just not swim in the 10 days let alone 10 weeks, no matter what technique was used, but John amazed me. He was not fooled by any of the attempts to avoid the task at hand. I would recommend allowing John to use your pool, he was very considerate of us as were all the families. It was nice to see all the kids who can now enjoy the summer instead of being fearful of the water.
